VIEWPOINT 2023: Michael Dube, Vice President of Manufacturing and Engineering, Rochester Electronics, LLC
2022 has been an interesting year for the semiconductor industry. While the forecast for global industry growth was revised downwards several times from an initial 10%, the consensus is that overall annual growth was in the range of 4%, bringing the total industry size close to $600 Billion. The future presents numerous challenges, but there are encouraging events, such as the US CHIPS act, which has sparked 200 billion dollars in investments for U.S. semiconductor production, according to the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA). The past year proved to be very successful for Rochester Electronics, with strong demand for our distribution, licensed manufacturing, and manufacturing services. One of our key accomplishments for 2022 has been that Rochester Electronics received the IATF 16949:2016 certification for the manufacture of semiconductor components at its US-based facilities. Developed by the International Automotive Task Force in conjunction with the international standards community, the IATF 16949 is the industry's highest standard for quality management systems in the automotive sector. Rochester is investing in the continuous growth of our semiconductor package assembly solutions at our facilities in Newburyport, MA, and are proud to offer US-based onshore storage, die processing, assembly, and test services. Looking ahead to 2023, Major international financial services and advisory giant KPMG and GSA (Global Semiconductor Association) have highlighted Wireless Communications, Automotive, and the Internet of Things (IOT) as key drivers for the semiconductor industry and we believe that Rochester is well-positioned to support our supplier partners and customers with our solutions. Rochester Electronics is the world’s largest continuous source of semiconductors–100% Authorized by over 70 leading semiconductor manufacturers. Rochester is the comprehensive semiconductor lifecycle solution providing authorized distribution, licensed manufacturing, and manufacturing services.
