VIEWPOINT 2021: Casey Krawiec Vice President of Global Sales StratEdge Corporation
Fortunately, StratEdge management had the foresight in February to realize the pandemic was imminent and started implementing COVID-19 protections early. Events were canceled and social distancing and masks were required. Microsoft Teams was installed and deployed to ease communication with customers and staff. Another major step was to suspend all international and domestic employee travel. Responsibilities were analyzed and all employees who could work remotely were asked to do so. Production capacity was increased in our new facility and focus was placed on improving factory yields and efficiencies. Our R&D team had already started developing new ceramic QFNs for 5G millimeter wave applications and satellite projects. As a result, StratEdge had a strong latter half in 2020 with a marked increase in requests for new designs. For 2021, we’re anticipating a rise in 5G infrastructure build-out projects. We are optimistic that if the government debt from fighting COVID doesn’t squash spending in the defense and aerospace sectors, demand for our high-reliability packages, especially for gallium arsenide (GaAs) and gallium nitride (GaN) devices, will continue to grow.
