Despite the challenges presented by a world reeling from pandemic and economic disruption, Advantest was able to perform well throughout 2020, owing in part to robust demand for memory and SoC test systems for devices used in data centers and game consoles.

Thanks to Advantest's broad customer base and strong product portfolio, the company was able to capture strong growth in these areas. As we enter 2021, there are several key trends we are working towards enabling with our partners, as technologies continue to converge.

Five Key Trends for 2021

1. Faster networks and 5G. 5G is not only the next wireless generation, but will be a key enabling technology that is necessary for autonomous vehicles, seamless cloud and edge high performance computing, on-demand and live video streaming services, as well as smart IoT anywhere and anytime.

2. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Real-time streaming analytics with autonomous learning-and-action systems will be engaged throughout the semiconductor product life cycle. Because processes drift and data can quickly become stagnant, intelligent systems with autonomous learning capabilities are enabling insightful decisions in near real- time.

3. Accelerated Factory Automation. The impact of COVID-19 continues to accelerate factory automation investments with more robotics and AI technology.

4. As-a-Service Cloud and Edge Computing. Semiconductor yield and quality benefit greatly from smart machine learning systems utilizing big data with feed forward/backward capabilities to make better decisions faster.

5. Extended Reality. With online learning and working from home as new norms, virtual reality and augmented reality in particular, should continue to see growth.
