Morris Chang, Biden adviser meet

Morris Chang, founder of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC), held discussions with White House National Economic Council Director Lael Brainard during the APEC summit in San Francisco. They met to explore economic ties between Taiwan and the United States, touching on various economic topics. Brainard, responsible for overseeing infrastructure projects and the CHIPS Act, which includes $39 billion in subsidies for semiconductor companies like TSMC, engaged in a 40-minute meeting with Chang. Other Taiwanese officials present included Representative to the US Hsiao Bi-khim, National Security Council Deputy Secretary-General Hsu Szu-chien, Minister Without Portfolio John Deng, and Minister of Finance Chuang Tsui-yun. Chang also met with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and US Vice President Kamala Harris, aiming to strengthen economic cooperation between Taiwan and the US for the prosperity of the Indo-Pacific region.
