VIEWPOINT 2023: Tom Solon, P.E., Director of Sales and Marketing, RH Murphy Company
In 2022 we expanded our RapidTray® JEDEC Matrix Tray product line to cover components as small as 3mm. The RHM-940/941 series trays have been in high demand for companies needing a few, or a few hundred, custom JEDEC trays quickly and affordably. In 2023 we are introducing our Black Magic Pocketless JEDEC outline trays. Using a bio-inspired textured film for retention, the Black Magic JEDEC trays hold parts in place without adhesive or risk of residue. We expect this to be an enabling technology, allowing semiconductor handling equipment to process new classes of products and packages. Having expanded our manufacturing capacity to meet growing demand, we are also experimenting with additive manufacturing materials that hold the potential to redefine the boundaries of ESD management for component handling and automation. While the supply of some raw materials has been tight, we are very appreciative of our supply chain’s ability to keep everything on track without impacting our customers. New Hampshire's unemployment rate is very low, around 2.5%, but we have been able to fill a couple of key positions in our operations which also helps us respond quickly so our customers can meet compressed timelines. There are always unexpected challenges but we are confident that, with the help of our many partners, 2023 will be an exciting and productive year.
