The symposium is held in cooperation with SMTA and is a two day event which will cover a broad spectrum of medical applications. It will take place September 16-17, 2009 at the Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ.

Thursday, September 17^th 2009, Mr. Jigar Patel, M.S.Ch.E., Application Engineer at ZESTRON will be presenting the Technical Presentation on “Evaluation of Cleaning Chemistries for the Removal of Solder Flux Residues from Hybrid (PCB) Assemblies”. This presentation will demonstrate how Boston Scientific Corporation, Cardiac Rhythm Management (BSC-CRM) evaluated different cleaning chemistries to replace the currently operated Cyclohexane/IPA azeotrope vapor degreasing cleaning system. This cleanliness and material compatibility study was conducted to identify and quantify the cleaning ability and pre-qualify an aqueous chemical cleaning system for BSC-CRM global hybrid assembly operations, which would improve BSC-CRM’s ability to meet production quality and regulation requirements. This was accomplished through the improved ability to remove handling and soldering process residues from the assemblies and reducing the VOC emissions versus current vapor degreasing system. The aqueous cleaning system may also provide primary assembly cleaning system support for new technology advancements in product designs.
