How has COVID-19 affected your business in 2020?
As a global company, Indium Corporation had critical insight in developing our response to the coronavirus pandemic due to the SARS and MERS outbreak episodes that impacted our facilities in Asia—specifically their experiences preventing on-site transmission.

We used that knowledge and best practices to organize special teams—both corporate and site-based—whose primary mission it became to keep people safe. Indium Corporation was privileged to be deemed an essential business throughout the pandemic, enabling us to continue supporting our customers and ensuring essential industries are supplied during the pandemic.

Has the pandemic affected your business plans for 2021?
The pandemic has not affected our primary mission—to continue to work collaboratively with our customers to inspire innovation and create cutting-edge solutions to the industry's current and emerging problems. While our customers were disrupted due to the pandemic, we anticipate that as 2021 is underway, we'll continue to see business and markets making gains as they continue to recover.

What are your expectations for the Semiconductor industry next year?
We're expecting to see the continued growth of advancements that played a critical role in the events of 2020, such as high-performance computers (HPC) and artificial intelligence (AI). Beyond the pandemic, they'll be used for collecting and analyzing data from many sectors including financial services, retail analysis, autonomous driving, and continued use in medicine.

These trends in the automotive, server, HPC, and AI industries demand more advanced packaging technologies, as well as high-speed 5G networks, to support increased user demand. As a materials supply company, we’re eager to answer the challenge and deliver innovative materials for this new generation.
