As we look back on 2011, the semiconductor packaging & micro-electronics industry has rebounded from the global economic turmoil which began in late 2008.

We've spoken to hundreds of suppliers and they've shared their upbeat assessment of 2010 as "a year of recovery". Most companies saw a significant increase in business from the lows of 2009 and many had record years.

The supply chain was still a problem for many companies in need of precision parts, causing delivery issues. As we enter 2012, the supply chain bottleneck should begin to ease as the growing global economy is better balanced.

Looking ahead to 2012, most are optimistic the recovery will continue but at a modest rate, while some think we overshot growth in 2010. The year over year sales growth will not be as strong, yet sales for 2011 should be higher than 2010 according to many.

Over the next several weeks we'll publish the "Viewpoint Commentary" from Industry leaders sharing their thoughts about their companies and the industry. If you want to submit a commentary, send us an e-mail.

We appreciate your support and look forward to a good year in 2012.
